A report by the Republican-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee concluded that theres no evidence to support numerous allegations of misconduct against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, including an accusation of attempted rape, exposure, and instances of heavy drinking.
This was a serious and thorough investigation that left no stone unturned in our pursuit of the facts, said committee chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) in a statement about the 414-page report on the committee majoritys probe released Saturday. In the end, there was no credible evidence to support the allegations against the nominee.
In the most troubling accusation against Kavanaugh after his nomination to the top court, California professor Christine Blasey Ford testified that a stumbling drunk Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed, tried to remove her clothing and pressed his hand over her mouth when she attempted to scream at a house party when they were both in high school.
Yale classmate Deborah Ramirez also said that a drunken Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a party and thrust his penis into her face. High school and college classmates said publicly before Kavanaugh was confirmed that he was a heavy drinker.

Voters are turning out. BIG TIME. That's what we said had to happen. That's what's happening it seems. Keep the faith.

(128,855 posts)Casey is pretty much a shoo-in (as is Wolf for Governor). We have reports here in Philly that the our registrations are up since the primary and there is an expectation of an "unusually high" (for a midterm) turnout. If we are way ahead "of the last midterm", which was 2014 when we were able to get Wolf elected the first time, then this is a very good sign indeed -

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Preliminary indications are that voter turn-out will be unusually high in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania on Tuesday. States with early voting use that as an indicator of likely turn-out, but in Pennsylvania, new registrations and absentee ballots are the harbinger -- and they are way up over the last mid-terms.
In Philadelphia, registrations since the primary are up three percent with the total number of voters now 1,064,148. As for absentee ballots, 24 hours before the deadline, the city had received twice the total number it received in 2014.
Commissioner Al Schmidt says it's unusual because there are no real contested races in the city. Normally competition drives turn out and in this case, in Philadelphia, we just don't have that, he said. Schmidt says it appears national politics are driving interest, as they do in a presidential year. He doesn't think turn out will hit the 65 percent it did in 2016, but he thinks it will be larger than the 40 percent in a typical mid-term. Everything we're seeing is pointing to higher turn-out, closer to 50 (percent), he added.

Plus by succeeding in torpedoing the GOP Congressional gerrymandering, the new map will give Democrats at least 3 more NEW Congressional seats, taking our current delegation from 12 (R) - 6 (D) to at least 9 (R) - 9 (D), with a potential for 1 or 2 additional (D)s IF we can get a large turnout in the new PA-1 and maybe even PA-16.
But all I can do is SMH at what is going on in Kansas and Georgia.
