Steve King bars 'leftist propaganda' outlet Des Moines Register from election night event

Source: Des Moines Register

U.S. Rep. Steve King has barred the Des Moines Register from his election night event in Sioux City.

The Register made a routine request Monday for credentials to cover the northwest Iowa Republican’s event Tuesday evening.

Jeff King, who is Steve King’s son and a paid staffer of his campaign, responded Tuesday morning with a terse email. “We are not granting credentials to the Des Moines Register or any other leftist propaganda media outlet with no concern for reporting the truth,” he wrote.

The arch-conservative congressman is running for his ninth two-year term. He usually cruises to victory in the heavily Republican 4th Congressional District. But this year, he is facing a tough challenge from Democratic newcomer J.D. Scholten.

Both are Gannett papers, hardly a company known for its liberalism.

I guess it's up to the Sioux City Journal to cover the fall of Nazism in Northwest Iowa.

first time in like 44 years they endorsed a Dem.

You are so right - there are some lefties at the Register, but it is a GANNET paper and as such in total leans right.
Nothing like the Register I learned to read from in the 50s and 60s.

2. LOL! The Des Moines Register is about as centrist a newspaper as there is anywhere.

They've endorsed Democrats lately but they're hardly "leftist." They've also won 16 Pulitzers. But I guess to the likes of Steve King, any media outlet that doesn't kiss Trump's ugly orange ass is a "leftist propaganda outlet."

Steve King is angry at the Des Moines Register because they pointed out how he never met a nazi he didn't like.
