Schumer Warns Of Constitutional Crisis After AG Exit

Source: Newsweek

By Tim Marcin, 1 hr. ago. Newsweek, Schumer Warns of Constitutional Crisis After AG Exit.

Upon learning the bombshell news that Attorney General Jeff Sessions was out on Wednesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer quickly warned of a constitutional crisis.

A new attorney general must not interfere with the investigation from special counsel Robert Mueller into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign, the New York Democrat warned.

Schumer was handed a paper informing him of the Sessions news during a press conference and he told reporters that any tampering the Mueller probe would amount to a "constitutional crisis."

"Protecting Mueller and his investigation is paramount," he said it would create a constitutional crisis if this were a prelude on ending the Mueller probe." Matthew Whitaker, Sessions's chief of staff, was set to take over as the acting attorney general.

from his dinner table, Chuck?

I wish we had a devious thinker leading our Senate caucus. Somebody they're actually afraid of. Chuck Schumer they're not afraid of. They scoff at Chuck Schumer.

In their power come Jan 2, to hire mueller and his team and conduct it with intent of impeachment....and now it's in the public view leading up to 2020...mitch McConnel can't choose to try trump or not once the house has articles of impeachment....so let GOP defend the trump crime family with all the dirt in front of the American public.

McConnel is shaking his head. He knows how this plays out 2020

let the DOTUS fire Mueller. On 1/3 once the House is sworn in they can reappoint Mueller and reconvene his team, this time with even a stronger much case against the idiot since it will include another more serious obstruction charge.

It's just inconceivable to me that this shit will go unpunished. But then again, I'm not optimistic because these are the CONS we're talking about.

40 years of trump corruption AND Russian payola can be aired in front of the American public for a year of hearings and investigations...all on CSPAN....no foxnews filter at all.

Keep what he as AND add more. We're in a constitutional crisis already. Have been since prior inauguration 2017.

The republic demands it.

We've been talking about this for the last 2 years. Or maybe it's been 1.8 years, but anyway. It has finally come down to this. Cheeto will do or say anything to save his sorry, guilty, despicable ass and we've known it all along.

Let's give ourselves credit for being able to look down the road and see this coming. Those of us who are old enough, remember the Saturday Night Massacre of 1973. Anybody wondering, here's some background info on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Night_Massacre

Archibald Cox was sacked on that day, but it triggered a Constitutional crisis that led to the downfall of Richard Nixon. So the precedent has been set and no SCOTUS bench (even the one we have now) would override a precedent like that.

Get your picket signs ready folks. Welcome to "interesting times!"
