Trump says he did not discuss Mueller with Whitaker before appointing him acting attorney general
Source: CNBC
President Donald Trump on Friday said he had not discussed special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe with Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, the man who Trump appointed this week to oversee inquiry.
Whitaker has come under increasing scrutiny since his appointment on Wednesday because of his previous criticism of Mueller's investigation.
People close to the president said that Whitaker's public skepticism of the probe is what led Trump to first take an interest in him, according to a Wednesday report in The New York Times.

President Donald Trump on Friday said he had not discussed special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe with Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, the man who Trump appointed this week to oversee the inquiry.
"I didn't speak to Matt Whitaker about it, I don't know Matt Whitaker," Trump said.
The comments come as Whitaker faces increasing scrutiny over his criticism of Mueller's investigation.
Whitaker, a Trump ally, has accused Mueller of "going too far," and once posted a message on Twitter referring to Mueller's prosecutors as a "lynch mob."

(115,661 posts)Maybe he didn't say "the Mueller investigation." More likely it was something like, "You know we got that bidness to take care of, right?"

(23,083 posts)You know damn well he did talk to him and secure the promise of no recusal. Don the con will say that wasn't specifically about Mueller, so it's not a lie. However we all know it totally is a lie, that the recusal was all about that investigation and that investigation only. He heard this guy saying, despite having no facts at all, there was no crime and that Mueller is fake news & should be unfunded & killed off that way. He got a sycophant & that's the exact reason drumpf skipped over everyone else to get this most disqualified asshole. It's illegal and needs to be stopped. Only question is will SCOTUS support constitution or Russian tool for repug power if this comes to them.

Even that young woman Trump ordered to grab the journalists mic-looked like she was going to cry.

(19,192 posts)until the day he dies! A good sense of humor is a strong indicator of intelligence. I guess that's why so many Republicans, especially Trump, have no sense of humor at all.

(22,651 posts)only republican who ever spoke out( a tiny little bit) against republican lies was McCain but he never spoke out 'strong enough' against his own parties failings. He was stupid to allow people like palin as his running mate.
Even today McCain took to his grave letting republican party set the tone for America. He could have left letters of detail to be read in public upon his death, but no-he had to die with his republican boots on. Abandon America to the beasts.

(37,648 posts)Whitaker has already stated everything Trump needs to know: He's against the Mueller investigation, thinks it should be narrowed to between the corners of the two issues, there's nothing there to investigate, and he's LOYAL to Trump.
