One pilot killed in T-38 crash at Laughlin

A training jet crashed Tuesday evening at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, killing one pilot and sending another to a local hospital, the Air Force said.
The identities of the pilots were not provided in a release issued by Laughlin just after midnight, but the Air Force said the survivor was transferred from the base to Val Verde Regional Medical Center. No condition was given.
The twin-seat supersonic T-38C Talon crashed about 7:40 p.m., with emergency personnel arriving on the scene “quickly afterwards,” said the spokesman, 1st Lt. Mickel McGann.
Both McGann and the Val Verde County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred on the base.
