Melania Trump: Not surprising that critics 'have chosen to ridicule me' for 'Be Best' campaign

Source: The Hill

First lady Melania Trump on Thursday said it is not "surprising" to her that "critics in the media have chosen to ridicule" her campaign against online incivility.

"It is not news or surprising to me that critics in the media have chosen to ridicule me for speaking out on this issue and that’s okay," Trump said during the Family Online Safety Institute's annual conference.

Trump attended the event to promote her "Be Best" campaign, which encourages children to be kind on social media.

"I remain committed to tackling this topic because it will provide a better world for our children," Trump said. "And I hope that like I do, you will consider using their negative words as motivation to do all you can to bring awareness and understanding about responsible online behavior."

'Be best' means nothing. Is she still battling the language barrier, or trying to be clever? A failure on both counts. With the addition of the word "the" in the middle, it then becomes sensible at least. 'Best' is an adjective. There is no subject in the term, "Be Best' for an adjective to describe. It's ridiculous, and a "first lady" should at least try to set an example for children - and adults - with her grammar. Apparently her aides (if she has any) didn't advise her to be sensible, or - like her husband - she just refuses to listen to anyone's opinion.

In any event, no one is ridiculing the subject of her "campaign", just the ignorant name she chose to give the damned thing.

You know, what her hubby is trying to forbid anyone else from doing? She has no family remaining in Slovenia. She's very secretive about her past as well, and - like her jackass husband - sues anyone using her name or likeness. She never did graduate from any University in Slovenia as she's claimed, and one wonders what her exceptional ability was for her to earn an "Einstein" Visa into the U.S?

IMO she's just another fraud, like her loving hubby, and is all form and absolutely no substance. Arm candy for the inherited wealth rich pig from Manhattan. They deserve each other, they really do.

If a democratic had come up with it, I would think it would be bad as well. I have gone to the be best website and there really isn't anything there. The website is badly written. I don't see anything that she is doing in her campaign.

Michelle Obama was out there giving speeches, talking with people and planting gardens. She was working at her campaign for kids to eat healthy and exercise. I went to the Lets Move website and it is well written and filled with information.

She doesn't remember all the laughs we had over Nancy Reagan's china policy (that was before the Just Say No Campaign, or the scandals with the dresses), or Lady Bird Johnson's highway beautification campaign, or Hillary Clinton's cookie recipes. And a century before that "Lemonade Lucy" Hayes was mocked for trying to ban alcohol from the White House. I doubt any first lady since Martha Washington escaped the public notice unscathed.
