Embattled Hyde-Smith posted photo of herself in confederate hat

Mississippi Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith posed for a photo wearing a confederate soldier's hat and holding a rifle in a Facebook post that surfaced Tuesday.

Hyde-Smith took the photo during a 2014 visit to the Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library. "Mississippi history at its best!" Hyde-Smith exclaimed.

Davis was the president of the Confederacy during the Civil War, and his former estate now includes a library and museum in his honor.

"I enjoyed my tour of Beauvoir. The Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library located in Biloxi," Hyde-Smith wrote. "This is a must see. Currently on display are artifacts connected to the daily life of the Confederate Soldier including weapons. Mississippi history at its best!"

so many ignorant red neck women of the deep South. I used to live in rural East Texas, the belt buckle of the Bible belt. I've just seen so many red neck women like her from the First Baptist church of every little red neck town, population 4,000. These women would be mortified if their kids were friends with black kids in school. They honestly have no understanding of how adoration of the romanticized Old Confederacy makes AAs and non-racist Whites cringe. And that's why they hate political correctness. They want to go merrily along with their white master race BS, glorifying General Lee. Sentimentalizing their dear old black servants that they pay pennies for. I hope she gets her butt kicked in the polls. Can we please please please put her brand of the ol' south in the rear view mirror?

15. I just drove thru Mississippi. Like I do every year.

Vicksburg to Mobile, Alabama.

The only keeping them from truly reaching 3rd world status is Federal Government spending.

They are the only Southern State without a booming increasingly rich and Blue city. Jackson is a wasteland and if you have not been there you can’t believe how bad it is. Compared to Little Rock or Birmingham it is a joke. Not to mention New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Nashville or especially Atlanta.

If ever there was a state that should embrace Democratic Party values it is Mississippi. But the racism is stronger than good sense.

I know there are lots of good democrats fighting hard to help their state to reach the potential it has. I have donated to Espy and hope he can pull it off.

But too many white folks there prove LBJs point that as long as they are better off than black folks all is good.
