Rep. Poliquin requests recount in 2nd District race won by Jared Golden
Source: Portland Press Herald
U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin requested a recount Monday of the ranked-choice election results that ended with Democrat Jared Golden winning the 2nd Congressional District race.
Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlaps office said Poliquin filed the recount request Monday afternoon, just hours before the deadline. Poliquin trails Golden by more than 3,500 votes, according to updated results released Monday.
We have heard from countless Maine voters who were confused and even frightened their votes did not count due to computer-engineered rank voting, said Brendan Conley, a spokesman for the Poliquin campaign, said in a statement.
Furthermore, we have become aware that the computer software and black-box voting system utilized by the Secretary of State is secret. No one is able to review the software or computer algorithm used by a computer to determine elections, Conley said. This artificial intelligence is not transparent. Therefore, today, we are proceeding with a traditional ballot recount conducted by real people.

Black-box voting advantages for me; but not for thee.

Is the ranked choice voting a new thing there? That might be confusing to some people.
