Democrats overwhelmingly nominate Pelosi as Speaker amid rebellion

Source: The Hill

House Democrats voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to nominate Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to the Speakership amid an entrenched rebellion from insurgent lawmakers who pose the starkest threat to her long reign atop the party.

The outcome was no surprise. Pelosi was running uncontested and enjoys widespread support within the liberal-heavy caucus she’s led since 2003.

The much higher bar will come in the first week of January, when the full House meets to choose the Speaker in a public vote requiring a majority of the entire voting chamber. It’s there that the insurgents feel they can block Pelosi’s ascension, even as Pelosi and her allies have projected nothing but confidence that she’ll retake the gavel she lost following the red wave elections of 2010.

Wednesday’s Speaker vote was conducted by private ballot in the Visitors Center of the Capitol. It was reflective of the unusual nature of this year’s leadership elections that there were written ballots at all.

...In CT, all town committees have to conduct paper ballot votes and members have to sign their votes, unless the vote is unanimous. They're a matter of public record.

willing to let the Repugnants hamstring us by proposing a rule that bills would need a larger majority to pass the House which the Repugnants have loved to use against us.
After all look at how they hamstrung Obama in his nominating people to the courts with the rule in the Senate but once they had the majority in the Senate and had one of their own in the Whitehouse they threw that rule out and are now packing the courts mostly with extremists.

Pelosi was going to have against her--probably for a story for ratings. When a few "rebels" saw that, they made a jump on it thinking to make a case. This country is so ready for things to get done for ordinary person and there is no one who can beat Nancy for her skill and experience. Let these newcomers see her in action and learn from her. From the outside, the job may look easy. It's not--- and they will be surprised at how well she performs. Enthusiasm is great, promises are only words, but a RECORD is what really counts.

Go Nancy.
