Federal agents raided the City Hall office of powerful Chicago Ald. Ed Burke on Thursday morning, sources familiar with the development confirmed.
Agents arrived at the office early Thursday morning, told employees to leave and papered over the glass windows at the offices entrance to conceal the investigation going on inside, a source confirmed. A woman who left the office and did not identify herself said FBI agents were inside.
Burkes office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Burkes ward office on the Southwest Side also had the same brown paper taped over its front door with three signs that read, Office closed. An officer sitting in a squad car parked behind Burkes ward office said a search warrant was being executed inside but offered no further details.

I can't imagine how this is allowed. It seems like such a conflict of interests.

(21,646 posts)is saying trump but could be anything he has a hand in the citys finances
He was part of the famous Council Wars a very racially polarized part of history in the city when Harold Washington was mayor .
The leaders against Washington in the council were fast Eddie (Vydoliak)
and Burke , who was called slow Eddie

And now Burke's wife is an Illinois Supreme Court justice.

This is amazing.
I feel a wind blowing. However, desperate men take desperate actions.

(6,582 posts)It was quite a while ago but the house was HUGE and GORGEOUS!!! Ebony piano, hot tub, the works. IIRC it was in Powers Lake WI but don't quote me on that.
I didn't know them personally, but remember knowing who he was - and had heard his name a number of times on the news when I was growing up in Chicago. Whether it was good news or bad news, I really couldn't say.... who follows politics when they're young, you know?
But anyway, I read the Raw Story headline today in my newsletter and just about choked when I realized I used to clean his house. Small world!
