The Trump administration on Thursday said military action against Iran could be possible should U.S. sanctions against the country fail to curb Tehran from delivering weapons to hostile groups in the region.
"We have been very clear with the Iranian regime that we will not hesitate to use military force when our interests are threatened. I think they understand that. I think they understand that very clearly," Brian Hook, the State Department special representative on Iran, said.
Speaking at a press conference at Joint Base AnacostiaBolling in Washington, D.C., Hook was asked about possible next steps the administration could take against Iran in its maximum pressure campaign against the country.
"I think right now, while we have the military option on the table, our preference is to use all of the tools that are at our disposal diplomatically."

(21,477 posts)It's coming. The walls are closing in on him. God only knows what he will do once he's cornered. Hopefully, resign. If not, we are entering a very dangerous time.

(5,914 posts)He is in it to the bitter end. Being President gives him powers beyond prosecution over all of the sleazy shit he has done his whole life. He will NOT leave this office on his own accord.
As I've said since Day One, the only way he will vacate the office is if we make it absolutely miserable for him to be there. No more weekend golf trips. No more fun. We hold him accountable for running the country, for doing his elected job. We need to make the office of President a total inconvenience to him, because it really is unless you love the United States of America and are committed to the idea.

(2,948 posts)But will they chance it at this point? He's pissed off the military so they might slow play it, and he's pissed the rest of us off.
I for one will be marching my old bones in the streets with my protest sign, and you know millions of others will also.

(38,403 posts)Not just "stupid" or "stupider" but "stupidest" Yes, "est" Yes, we think we have seen it all, but this would be the worst. Oh, I guess we could have military action against the Soviet Union, well that will not happen. How about China? No that will not happen either...Iran?..even talking about it is insane. Proof that Trump is nuts. And the State Department has been hijacked by Trumpers. Normal life long employees of the State Department would not bring this up. Much too stupid. (I have known a couple who worked there a long time) They had more integrity in their poop than Trump and his gang have all together in all their cells)

(9,350 posts)I believe it was said that the reason everyone had to vote against Hillary Clinton was that if she became President we would be at war with the world. Supposedly, the one benefit of voting for Donald Trump was that he would keep us out of wars around the world. That theory does not seem to be working out very much. At least with Hillary Clinton we might have had a leader that cared about details and knew about what was going on in the world. We also might have had people at the helm of government agencies who knew what they were doing.

(5,914 posts)I never did buy into the "Hillary as warmonger" thing. It seemed to me that she would keep us out of wars, not get us into them. There was a massive propaganda effort going at that time. It's still happening.
