Mueller could hit Manafort with retrial, new charges

Source: Politico

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s office is considering retrying former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort on a slew of federal charges that resulted in a hung jury over the summer.

At a hearing in federal court Friday morning, prosecutors said they are also weighing leveling new criminal charges for Manafort, contending that he obstructed justice and committed additional federal crimes since entering a plea agreement with the special counsel in September.

“That determination has not been made,” said special counsel attorney Andrew Weissmann.

Weissmann's contention led judge Amy Berman Jackson, a member of the U.S. District Court of Washington, D.C., to set a tentative March 5 sentencing date for Manafort

Trump could pardon Manafort not only for the crimes he's been found guilty of committing, but also of the charges that were filed against him but that produced a hung jury.

If he doesn't re-try Manafort on those charges -- all of which relate to bank fraud and bank fraud conspiracy, it might be possible for one or more states to step in; but if he's retrying them, I doubt any state would start their own proceedings at the same time.

And get him again under oath to talk. Before it goes to trial he'll start realizing trump won't be able to give him a a pardon, and be screwed even more then. Manafort and Corsi both really , really screwed up badly, and others should think twice before they believe trump on anything. They'll then really get them on state charges on many other things then .

...is have the State of New York and the State of Virginia file tax charges against Manafort.

Since Manafort cheated on his taxes to the Federal Government, one can assume he did the same with his state taxes.

These are additional charges and are out of the reach of the Feds, including a Trump pardon. We'll see if he thinks this current tactic is such a good move.

11 of 12 jurors thought he was guilty. The 12th juror was a Trumper.
From the stuff I saw on it, Mueller had a great case.
So they're in a mistrial state. They can be retried.
They can nail him for more.

His only path for any relief is a pardon which won't relieve him of state charges. At this point, a pardon endangers Trump so I doubt the narcissist does it.

Meanwhile back at the jail sits Paul Manafort.
