Source: Speaker-Designate Nancy Pelosi
Washington, D.C. Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the death of President George H.W. Bush, who passed away at the age of 94:
Sadly, the nation is mourning the loss of our beloved American statesman and leader: President George Herbert Walker Bush.
Duty, sacrifice, commitment and patriotism. That is what President Bush preached and what he lived. Always a gentleman, his life and legacy will remain an enduring gift to the nation, and his friendship will always be cherished by all who were blessed to know him.
In the Congress, my colleagues and I knew President Bush as a gentleman of the highest integrity and deepest patriotism. It was a privilege to work with him and witness his firm commitment to ensuring America lived up to our Founders promise of hope and freedom.
President Bush profoundly believed in the power of ordinary Americans to make a difference. His belief in a kinder, gentler America encouraged people to embrace the spirit of service and encouraged them to share his vision of a thousand points of light. We will all remember his great humility, unwavering compassion, deep faith and extraordinary kindness in and out of the political arena.
It is a solace to all who loved him that President Bush is once again with his beloved Bar and their daughter Robin. We pray that the light of their memory will be a constant comfort to their children, President George Walker Bush, former Governor Jeb Bush, Neil, Marvin, Dorothy and the entire Bush family. May it also be a comfort to President Bushs many loved ones that so many mourn their loss and pray for them at this sad time.
Paul and I and our family loved President Bush, and send our deepest sympathy and prayers to the Bush family.

I wonder if she was thinking "as opposed to that orange idiot sitting in the White House now" when she wrote this about Bush Sr.
