Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Tests 2020 White House Run in New Hampshire
Source: Roll Call
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard ditched the beaches of Hawaii for New Hampshire over the weekend as she considers whether to jump into what is expected to be a crowded race for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020.
It is the second time this fall Gabbard has visited the Granite State, a bellwether for presidential hopefuls since its the first state on the primary election calendar each cycle.
Im seriously thinking of how I can best be of service to our country, the Hawaii Democrat, an ardent backer of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic primaries, told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser before a scheduled meet-and-greet with activists in New Hampshire on Sunday.

(2,728 posts)Rep. Gabbard's so-called support for Assad or Sen. Manchin's confirmed support for Kavanaugh? The actions of one will have lasting consequences on my daily life for the foreseeable future and it surely is not Rep. Gabbard meeting Assad.

(92,138 posts)and since I dont live in West Virginia it is up to the populace of that state to decide on Manchin
Nice worthless straw man argument you setup though, and Tulsis anti-Muslim, anti-gay past, along with her Obama bashing appearance in Fox News is why she will NEVER be nominatied. She burnt her bridges
Devil Child
(2,728 posts)I don't weigh the charges against her as heavily as you seem to do. I despise Sen. Manchin for his Kavanaugh vote but if by some inexplicable reason it was Trump vs Manchin in 2020 I would unflinchingly vote for Manchin.

I would like to see her as a VP.

(2,728 posts)I see nothing about her that is exclusionary for pursuit of higher office. She is a Democrat and should she choose to run I would strongly consider her.
I believe she would make a solid VP contender as well.

She is an opportunist though. She's good a that.

(5,914 posts)I'd like to know why. I also see a lot of strident horseshit in this forum leveled against Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. And that makes absolutely no sense to me. She appears to be a great champion. It makes me question what's behind it.
It seems like there are a lot of shenanigans at work here. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Please tell me, with credible sources, why I should dislike Tulsi Gabbard.

(5,914 posts)I was a Bernie supporter, too, until he was no longer an official candidate. I switched to Hillary after the primaries, with no misgivings. I would have happily voted for her even if she weren't running against a barely sentient orange ape. So why was this an easy choice for me, and not for so many others? And why do so many other people carry such animosity about it? Or is it, as I suspect, manufactured outrage?
I see no problem with Tulsi Gabbard.

(17,646 posts)Tulsi Gabbard is not your friend.
But google is.
From her rabid anti-gay core beliefs that she now disavows to her closeness to Assad and Modhi, if you are a progressive she does not hold your values. She has keyed in on a few high visibility keys to your impressions and allows your u to fill in the blanks with your own imagination.
She used Bernie just like she used the Akakas.
We knew this was where she wanted to go since she first ran for city council. Its not if shes running for President but when so I really hope people dust off their civic duty and start looking closer, especially to who is supporting her.

Please convince me, as a Democrat who votes in every election, why I shouldn't consider Tulsi Gabbard as a credible candidate for future office. So far, I have had brave responses from people who have associated Ms Gabbard with Bernie Sanders and with Hawaiian politics. I don't have a problem with any of that.

(67,782 posts)What has she done that warrants such trust?
That's one of the factors contributing to why I feel the way I do - she simply hasn't shown me any reason to put her ahead of all the qualified prospects we have.

(5,914 posts)Nor do you.
Let's let her do her thing and see what happens.

(2,728 posts)I think that is a fair position to take. Should Rep. Gabbard pursue a primary run she will have to work hard to communicate and demonstrate just that. I say this as someone who is sympathetic to her efforts.

(5,914 posts)No one has given me any convincing reason why I should discredit Tulsi Gabbard. I have no other reason to support her other than that I agree with what she professes to speak for, which sounds completely reasonable to me. I have heard no credible argument against what she says, nor any credible argument why I shouldn't trust her for advocating that.

An anonymous woman thinks Franken wanted a kiss but she ducked and there was no physical contact. She claims he said that its his right as an entertainer. He says he never said that. Tulsi Gabbard takes the word of an anonymous accuser over Al Frankens word.
