Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) issued a forceful condemnation of the Saudi crown prince and the kingdom on Tuesday, breaking with President Trump and suggesting he would question the judgment of anyone who believed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was not involved in Washington Post writer Jamal Khashoggis murder.
He went on to suggest that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defense Secretary James Mattis were being technical good soldiers for the goals of the Trump administration. He said he would question somebodys judgment if they couldnt figure this out.
It is zero chance, zero, that this happened in such an organized fashion without the crown prince, he told reporters Tuesday. As to Pompeo and Mattis, I have great respect for them. I would imagine if they were in a Democratic administration, I would be all over them for being in the pocket of Saudi Arabia, but since I have such respect for them, Im going to assume that theyre being good soldiers.
He then offered a veiled criticism of Trump.
I think the reason they dont draw the conclusion that hes complicit, is because the administration doesnt want to go down that road, not because theres not evidence to suggest hes complicit, he said.

(6,699 posts)Couldn't care less what this slimy douchebag has to say about ANYTHING. He has lost any credibility with me since the death of "the congressional clown". He has NO soul. After his cowardly supporting the most disgusting insult to American politics with his nose 6 inches up his ass, and his temper tantrum in the Kavinaugh hearings....this guy is a few steps lower that dog shit on my list.

(397 posts)that he does not trust the Presidents judgement. - which should raise the question of the 25th amendment.
But it also suggests that he believes Trump will act inappropriately when he 'doesn't want to go' down a particular road. With that in mind, he should now change his opinion on whether Mueller should receive protection from congress.
He can no longer claim that there is no need, as he believes the president would not act inappropriately.
It is possible that Mueller has protected himself, but there would be value in putting the American public on notice that republicans are questioning the veracity and motives of Trump. While republicans sit and do nothing, it is easier for Trump supporters to believe that the only doubters or people concerned with 'legality' are "12 angry democrats' driven by the 'deep state'

Does Graham realize that he basically admitted that Pompeo and Mattis are in the
pocket of Saudi Arabia?
"Why aren't leading Democrats all over Graham for this statement"? Had this been reversed the republicans would be flooding the media screaming about Congressional partisanship and ethics. Where are those voices?
Graham should be expelled from the Senate.
