Trump's family empire/entities hit with 30 subpoenas. Multiple federal agencies involved.
Source: Source Politics
A ton of subpoenas just hit President Trump's family business seeking records from not only the Trump Organization but from the Internal Revenue Service and a dozen other entities, the Associated Press is reporting.
In all, the subpoenas target more than 30 Trump-linked private entities.
The bombshell news happened on Tuesday, just one day after U.S. District Court Judge Peter J. Messitte said that foreign and domestic spending at Trumps Washington, D.C., hotel amounted to a violation of the Constitutions emoluments clause.
The attorney generals from both the District of Columbia and Maryland were behind the coordinated effort.

(9,136 posts)This is a lawsuit, seeking injunctive relief, not a criminal indictment.
It's a great move, and if successful, will expose some of what's going on in the Trump organization.
The hard evidence, if exposed, of Trump violating the emoluments clause, should be immediate grounds for an impeachment and conviction. ...but, we have a Senate full of GOP collaborators.
We can all hope that the testimony compelled by these subpoenas will expose indictable criminal activity, but it's not a slam dunk just because the Attorneys General can get them in court.

Way too many were asleep at the wheel when he first took office.

They, and all their tentacles, are getting hit from so many directions. Wow.
I wonder if they went back in time, knowing what they know now, would Jr. think it's great! just great! to work with Russia to interfere with the American election process, and cyberattack American organizations and citizens. And be Russian puppets. And commit white collar crimes. And try to do it in the White House.

(12,809 posts)Not the OP's fault, but rather the reporter. Like in the case of mothers-in-law, attorneys general pluralizes the first word of the compound noun.
Unless you're British, in which case: "attorney-generals."

NEW YORKStopping for lunch at a Manhattan Burger King, New York Times 'On Language' columnist William Safire ordered two "Whoppers Junior" Monday. "A majority of Burger King patrons operate under the fallacious assumption that the plural is 'Whopper Juniors,'" Safire told a woman standing in line behind him. "This, of course, is a grievous grammatical blunder, akin to saying 'passerbys' or, worse yet, the dreaded 'attorney generals.'" Last week, Safire patronized a midtown Taco Bell, ordering "two Big Beef Burritos Supreme."
