Michael Flynn asks judge for leniency for lying to FBI

Source: NY Times

WASHINGTON -- Lawyers for Michael T. Flynn, President Trump's first national security adviser, asked a federal judge late on Tuesday to spare their client any prison time for pleading guilty to lying to investigators, citing his significant cooperation with the special counsel's investigation.

Mr. Flynn's lawyers said his lengthy military service and willingness to assist the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, should warrant a sentence of only probation. Lawyers also included letters from supporters vouching for Mr. Flynn's character.

"His cooperation was not grudging or delayed," Mr. Flynn's lawyers wrote in a sentencing memorandum.

Mr. Flynn faces up to six months in prison when he is sentenced on Dec. 18, but a punishment of that length seems unlikely. Federal prosecutors also told Judge Emmet G. Sullivan of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia last week that Mr. Flynn, a retired Army lieutenant general, deserved little to no prison time. They cited the substantial information he provided in several ongoing federal inquires, including sitting for 19 interviews with Mr. Mueller's team and other investigators.

And here is the 178 page sentencing memorandum that Rachel's talking about right now.
Most of it comprises letters of recommendation from family members, friends, and associates.

A career office that reached the rank of Lt. General and didn't know that lying to the FBI was illegal?...I seriously doubt that. He knew what he was doing. Was probably hoping for a pardon....anyway....I say:

LOCK HIM UP!
LOCK HIM UP!
LOCK HIM UP!

LOCK HIM UP!
LOCK HIM UP!

Just because they had a change of heart or are pleading for their own ass and are facing major time. Ya shouldn’t do bad stuff and think you can get off just because you got caught and need to talk

19. Yes, we can. That's the way Mueller brought down John Gotti.

He let off a murderer of 19 people with a 5 yr sentence. And he got an organized crime boss known as "Teflon John" who had been ultimately responsible for the deaths of many more.

And in this case, letting Flynn off easy may led to saving the Republic.

Judge should give him 6 months now, just because..

I guess he didn't want to lie anymore.

And who in the hell would meet with the FBI and not have an attorney present? All of these clowns thought they were smarter than the FBI.

Now he asks for leniency because he betrayed the trust of his co-conspirators.

I agree his sentence should be mitigated somewhat due to his ability and willingness to topple the criminal enterprise he so eagerly joined and abetted.

However, in the interest of equity and as a warning to other potential traitors in the future, he should pay a price for his near-treasonous actions and his venomous projection of his crimes on Hillary Clinton, which notoriously helped to sway an election.

WALL HIM UP. 4 months. Let him dwell on his anti-American, "Republican" behavior.

who cooperated fully and extensively with the investigation, in sharp contrast to people like Manafort and Cohen.

By letting Flynn off with no jail time, we might encourage more plea agreements from people who could be the final nails in the Trump family mausoleum.
