CORTLANDT - Nurses voted to unionize at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital after state officials vowed to investigate claims of labor abuses tied to the effort.
The tally was 130-118 for joining the New York State Nurses Association, which represents about 42,000 nurses statewide. Voting took place Thursday at the Cortlandt hospital.
Nurse and union organizer Ivelissa Alamo leveled allegations of harassment against hospital leadership and spoke about the vote outcome.
