Poll: 62 percent say Trump isn't telling the truth in Russia probe

More Americans want Democrats not Trump in charge of setting policy, a new national NBC News/WSJ poll finds.

WASHINGTON Six in 10 Americans say President Donald Trump has been untruthful about the investigation into Russias interference in the 2016 presidential campaign, while half of the country says the investigation has given them doubts about Trumps presidency, according to a new national NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

And just 10 percent of respondents say that the president has gotten the message for a change in direction from the midterms when the GOP lost control of the U.S. House of Representatives but kept its majority in the U.S. Senate and that hes making the necessary adjustments.
The dam has not burst on Donald Trump, said Democratic pollster Peter Hart, whose firm conducted this survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff. But this survey suggests all the structural cracks [that exist] in the dam.

(7,142 posts)I agree with you. Those 34% most likely only watch Fox News and listen to Rush. If that's all we had for information that 34% number would be a lot higher.

(6,881 posts)All polls never take into account that certain segment of the population that one might call just random. Who are predictably likely to unpredictably say anything about anything if asked. That loony fringe is always less of a fringe than faith in human reason would hope. Taking that in account it's fair to say "EVERYONE knows he's lying." But it's the kind of question that is not looking for an honest answer to start out with. Just a binary 0/1.

(7,402 posts)70% of Republicans believe Trump has been truthful, apparently buying into no collusion and that he had nothing to do with hush money payments - never mind that the payment money came from the Trump corporation funds.
Sure, there is some incremental softening in support for Trump but what does it take for the hard core 34% of people to accept that Trump cannot be trusted to tell the truth. Such denial of the facts is troubling, to say the least.
