Poll: Klobuchar rising in Iowa
Source: Politico
Sen. Amy Klobuchar is suddenly attracting the notice of potential Iowa caucus goers, according to a new poll where the Minnesota Democrat pulled in 10 percent placing her fourth in a crowded Democratic presidential field.
Former Vice President Joe Biden led the field with 30 percent saying he was their top pick for president, followed by Sen. Bernie Sanders with 13 percent and Texas Rep. Beto ORourke, who captured 11 percent.
But Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren the Massachusetts senator who placed just below Klobuchar with 9 percent saw their numbers slide among potential Democratic Iowa caucus-goers since September, according to a new Focus on Rural America poll released Monday and first obtained by POLITICO.
Both prospective candidates saw seven-point drops in their performance since the poll was last in the field in September, with Warrens support cut nearly in half in the quarterly survey funded by former Iowa Lt. Gov. Patty Judge.

(63,892 posts)I think she's also strong. Trump would probably try to bully her but I doubt if he would get too far.

(19,948 posts)I like Amy Klobuchar and she's near the top of my list of presidential hopefuls, but I don't know how well her last name would work in a song lyric.

(56,828 posts)I'd be happy to vote for her if she won the nomination. I checked her wikipedia and she was a member of an Improv Troupe at Yale, so hopefully she is good at thinking on her feet (debates!)
Oddly, my mom (in her 70s) is not really that into politics, but seems to love Amy Klobuchar. i guess she was on a few talk shows that she watches?

(115,610 posts)I'm only lukewarm about her. As a Senator she has mostly promoted and supported noncontroversial issues and rarely stuck her neck out. She's kind of bland, seems friendly and "nice," and is certainly intelligent, but she doesn't have much noticeable charisma. It's also worth mentioning that when she was Hennepin County Attorney (Minneapolis metro area) she had a reputation for being hard to work with. Maybe she could be someone's running mate but I just don't see her at the top of the ticket.

(28,072 posts)I cannot see her in the White House either. And, from what I've heard, the "difficult to work for" reputation is still there. She also has a staff that's rude even when you call to say you support something she's done, much less to disagree with her.
And, lest we forget, it's not that long ago that she was awfully palsy with McCain & Lindsay Graham.

Klobuchar has something. I can't explain it, but I totally can relate to her and I am not even from the mid-west. Try Central Florida.
I hope she runs.

(4,605 posts)Intelligent, articulate, calm, down-to-earth, principled, has a backbone. She'd make an excellent candidate for either V.P. or President.

There are so many great choices for every post.
