Trump approves second round of trade aid payments for U.S. farmers

Source: Reuters

BUSINESS NEWS DECEMBER 17, 2018 / 4:27 PM / UPDATED 35 MINUTES AGO

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he has authorized the second round of payments from a $12 billion aid package for farmers stung by the U.S. trade war with China, but did not specify an amount.

“Today I am making good on my promise to defend our Farmers & Ranchers from unjustified trade retaliation by foreign nations. I have authorized Secretary Perdue to implement the 2nd round of Market Facilitation Payments,” he said in a Twitter post.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture in July had authorized up to $12 billion in aid for farmers and ranchers hit by the fallout from Trump’s escalating trade war with China and the agency outlined the first round of payments.

An announcement on the second tranche had been expected in early December.

My numbers show that the tariffs will cost the average family about $2000 dollars a year, a lot of it going to pay tariffs. It is just a tax on the poor to subsidize the wealthy. Most of these "farmers" have a net worth of over a million.

What the hell is a "Market Facilitation Payment"? Admit it Tiny, it's an "I fucked up, I don't want to lose votes from my base, so I'm going to pay off some of my base (and screw over American taxpayers once again in the process) payment. Plus, as an added bonus (for Tiny and his merry band of repubs), this will increase the deficit and provide even more cover for fucking up Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

and broke if the last numbers I heard on payments are accurate.

A penny a bushel for corn and $8 per hog up to 50% of their herds are not going to buy many votes from any farmer.

Just a side note, no matter what kind of crap the CAFO hog farmers are feeding their pigs, there is no way $8 even pays for a couple of weeks of food for a pig much less getting it up to market size.

This is more of a slap in the face than it is a program to help the farmers he screwed over make it to next year.

...to defend our Farmers & Ranchers from unjustified trade retaliation by foreign nations."

Who's going to defend the farmers and ranchers from a bone-headed president who has absolutely no fucking idea what he's doing regarding trade, or anything else, for that matter? Just more corporate welfare. Small, family farmers are going to be pushed out of the business by these paltry payments, and the corporate farmers will gobble up their farms at cut-rate prices. The rich will keep getting richer, and Trump still serves the 1% who already control everything. He's counting his campaign "donations" already.

Trump couldn't have fucked this country up more if he had written instructions from Putin himself. What the hell am I talking about, of course he has written instructions from Putin himself! Trump couldn't have done such a complete and devastating job on our country left to his own devices. He had help, and it came from Russia and Saudi Arabia.
