US envoy quits over Trump Syria pullout
Source: BBC
The top US official in the fight against the Islamic State group has quit over President Trump's decision to pull troops from Syria, reports say.
Brett McGurk had planned to leave his role next year but brought his departure forward, CBS and AP reported.
Before Mr Trump's announcement he had insisted that the US would continue working against IS in Syria.
"We want to stay on the ground and make sure that stability can be maintained in these areas," he had said.

Brett H. McGurk (born April 20, 1973) is an American diplomat who was appointed by President Barack Obama on 23 October 2015[1] as Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL. He replaced General John R. Allen to whom he had been a deputy since 16 September 2014. He also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran, at the U.S. Department of State, and from October 2014 through January 2016 led 14 months of secret negotiations with Iran that led to a prisoner swap and release of four Americans from Evin Prison in Tehran, including the Washington Post journalist, Jason Rezaian.[2] This assignment, among others, reinforced McGurk's "reputation as a doer", according to the NY Times.[3] He earlier served under President George W. Bush as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Iraq and Afghanistan, and under President Obama as Special Advisor to the U.S. National Security Council and Senior Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq. Mr. McGurk served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist on the U.S. Supreme Court during the Court's 2001 October Term. On January 19, 2017, President-Elect Donald Trump's press secretary Sean Spicer announced that the incoming administration would retain McGurk in his role leading the counter-ISIS campaign.[4]

(4,341 posts)they get rid of all the smart people and fill it up with "yes" people who have no idea, no experience, no brains but will sign on to anything their dear leader says or does. The republican congress and senate are full of these people, but it will get worst.
I hate to say it over and over, but the parallels with trump and Hugo Chavez are incredible, that is how Chavez managed to destroy a country that was the envy of south american countries because of its democracy and progressiveness, and now it is a copy of Cuba.
I don't know when the republican traitors, or even if they will get to a point where they will say enough, and help get rid of the cancer that trump, his family and his gang are.
People in power, mostly the military need to wake up and help get rid of this swamp, one characteristic of evil people is that they move fast, they don't stop to look at the consequences, or collateral damage, they go straight for their goal, and they are effective because of their lack of analysis and prevention of bad things to other people, they don't care.
matt whitaker must be removed, barr should not be confirmed and Muller needs to prepare/present the report and indict the trumps, and it must be done the first week of January.

A Peace Economy
Since the invasion of Iraq in 2003, the United States has entangled itself in war and occupation throughout the Middle East and North Africa. As of 2018, we are currently involved in military action in Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan, and Somalia. According to the Constitution, the right to declare war belongs to the Legislative body, not the President. Yet, most of these acts of aggression have never once been voted on by Congress. Alex believes that we must end the forever war by bringing our troops home and ending the air strikes and bombings that perpetuate the cycle of terrorism and occupation throughout the world.
