According to CenturyLink the issue has caused outages in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Utah, New Mexico, Montana, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, and Arizona.
CenturyLink says a "major path issue" is what has caused outages across ... several other states Thursday,
and it could be 24 to 48 hours before service is restored.
Customers waiting to get answers from CenturyLink are looking at long wait times.
Chat wait times online averaged more than 350 minutes by 10 a.m. Thursday.

(488 posts)My dealings with CenturyLink was bad. They actually cut us off from the world for two days because of a tech mistake. Needless to say, we cancelled our account and switched to Xfinity. No problems.

(25,123 posts)They were giving us the worst excuses for internet that kept going out in the evening.
Bad modem. (Replaced with roach infested one)
Someone stealing our internet. (Yes, they tried that excuse)
High demand during evening hours.
Finally, they made a full service call and replaced wiring. It fixed the problem.

(4,925 posts)we have lots of MPLS and P2P circuits for branch offices through CenturyLink. Earlier this affected all of our offices on east coast as well as Chicago area. We've had issues with offices in California as well.

(146,254 posts)My landline phone in St. Paul, MN, is from CenturyLink. Thursday afternoon, I called from it to talk to my 94-year-old father on his cell phone. Three times, I got a fast busy signal when I called, which generally is due to a failure to establish a connection to the carrier of a cell phone. I picked up my Verizon cell phone and called my father's cell phone and connected with him immediately.
So, there is more to this CenturyLink outage than is being discussed.
