Trump-Russia: Republican probe of alleged FBI bias ends 'with a whimper'

Republicans have quietly and unceremoniously ended their congressional investigation of whether the FBI and Justice Department were biased in their handling of inquiries into Hillary Clinton’s emails and Donald Trump’s ties to Russia.

House judiciary chairman Robert Goodlatte and oversight chairman Trey Gowdy, who are retiring next week, sent a letter rather than a full report to the Justice Department and the Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell. It wraps up an inquiry that was conducted mostly behind closed doors but also in public as Republican lawmakers often criticised interview subjects later and suggested they were conspiring against Trump.

Goodlatte and Gowdy say in their letter that they reviewed thousands of documents and conducted interviews that “revealed troubling facts which exacerbated our initial questions and concerns”. They call on the Justice Department to appoint a special counsel to investigate further. A separate report issued this year by the Justice Department’s own internal watchdog found there was no evidence that the then FBI chief James Comey or the department were motivated by political bias toward either candidate.

Jerry Nadler, the top Democrat on the judiciary committee, and Elijah Cummings, top Democrat on the oversight panel, are expected to formally end the investigation when they take power in January. Nadler has called it “nonsense”.

1. Of course it's nonsense.

Hillary Clinton has endured over 30 years of Republican investigations, beginning when she was First Lady of Arkansas. She tolerated the endless investigations against her husband, and tolerated the seemingly endless so-called "investigations" against "Benghazi (led by Trey Gowdy)," which, if truth be told, were largely caused by Republicans cutting the State Dept. budget for embassy security. Look it the fuck up. It's only 3 min. away with Google.

In addition, there's this: the Clinton Foundation has saved MILLIONS of lives throughout Africa, while the Trump Foundation is under Federal Criminal Investigation for specious donations. I defy you to find any 10-foot-tall portraits of Hillary Clinton. Of course you can find multiple depictions of Trump, paid for by his supposed "non-profit foundation." I dare you to find any donations to politicians among The Clinton Foundation, but then there's Pam Bondi, one of the most corrupt officials in the country, who accepted $20,000 from - you can only guess - the Trump Foundation, a supposed non-profit, non-political entity. Pam Bondi is now facing Federal charges for accepting that donation.

The upshot of all this is this: if there's a "clean" politician alive today, it's Hillary Clinton. She's been "under investigation" by opposition researchers for over 30 years. She's 100% clean, as guaranteed opposition researchers. You have a problem with that? Then check your own biases, and check Google.

The endless Benghazi (and other bullshit) investigations were kicked off by Darryl Issa - a name that has for some reason been quickly forgotten around DU, after which he was succeeded by another whose name fell by the wayside - Jason Chaffetz!!!!!

Interesting analysis/summary of Issa's sliming of Congress - https://www.salon.com/2014/12/11/good_riddance_darrell_issa_a_wasteful_blowhards_humiliating_history/

Chaffetz's unceremonious retirement at the end of 2017 - https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/04/19/why-is-jason-chaffetz-suddenly-retiring-from-congress-one-word-ambition/?utm_term=.d7822ebb4964

Good riddance to ALL 3!

Two cretins intent on creating havoc at taxpayers expense. Their hatred of Secretary Clinton was appalling. Their treasonous behavior was beyond the pale.

let's see some of those texts and emails between FBI agents and Rudy G about Hillary Clinton, Huma Abedin and Anthony Weiner... I bet those are a helluva lot worse than anything between Strzok and Page.

Hillary has been under an opposition microscope ever since she was first lady of Arkansas, over 30 years ago. In all that time, she's never been "caught" doing ANYTHING illegal.

Hey, maybe she's not clean. But that wouldn't be my bet.
