Booker tells lawmakers he is running for president and seeks their support

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) on Thursday began calling members of Congress informing them he is running for president and is quietly making overtures to members for support, three congressional sources told The Hill.

"Yes, he is reaching out to members for their support,” said a former Democratic aide with direct knowledge of Booker’s intentions. "He's going to do it during Black History Month,” which starts on Friday.

“I don't know if it's going to be tomorrow, I just know it's going to be soon."

Among those who received a call Thursday were senior members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), of which Booker is a member.

Many good candidates on our side. I truly don't know who I'm going to support yet.

Let's just be sure to bust our collective asses to ensure that we take back the Senate so that our new progressive President will have plenty of good legislation to sign.

6. I Have To Agree

I like Booker. We need tough, smart, principled Candidates with good progressive agendas. I do not know Booker very well, but I have liked what I have seen. I think that another quality the Dem Candidates will need is the ability to throw elbows.

That was one of the things that I liked about Hillary- she was not afraid to go there, to call Trump a Russian Puppet to his face. We need someone who can maybe fight a bit dirty and bring the battle to the man-child Trump.
