Sherrod Brown: 'We have a president who's a racist'

Source: MSN/The Hill

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) said Sunday that President Trump is a racist.

"This country hasn't dealt well with issues of race. We have a president who's a racist," Brown, who is considering running for president in 2020, said during an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Host Chuck Todd then pressed Brown over whether he believes that Trump "in his heart" is a racist.

Brown pointed to Trump's past claims that former President Obama wasn't born in the U.S. and allegations that he discriminated against black people as a real estate owner.

Thank you Sherrod Brown! I was starting to get concerned when he started attacking Democrats for "identity politics," about a week ago. You cannot ignore social justice concerns such as equal pay for women, voting rights for minorities, in order to stand up for the rights of the working class, because the two are inextricably intertwined.

In contrast, Trump is a classic example of how person who stokes racism and who scapegoats immigrants in order to oppress not only minorities and immigrants, but the white working class.

1. I wasn't worried, I've heard him say minority rights and worker rights are both important

So I suspect his comments the other day were more about election positioning rather than substance. A lot of Democrats this cycle are going to be in agreement on many issues, but some are going emphasize certain areas more than others. Brown's positioning is going to focus on white midwestern workers and farmers. This is his natural strength, and can work well as long as he doesn't neglect other core constituencies.

His words and actions are what is dividing this country. Whether they arise from what's in his heart or not is totally irrelevant.

He's a miserable piece of shit grifter who's gotten far too lucky. Meanwhile, us working folks suffer.

I want the worthless fuck and his equally worthless family to go down...hard.

and it's truly a thing of both beauty and comedy.. You just don't get to ask Brown a stupid question. He will belittle your question (here"whatever that means" or in another interview "you're just playing the phony bothsiderism game&quot then seize the interview to deliver solid truths and Democratic message.
If you can see the whole interview you'll see how Brown takes it from minus zero (Todd's lame question)to 100 for our Party with breathtaking skill.
