Mostly Republicans Watched Trump Last Night

Source: PoliticalWire

February 6, 2019 at 8:19 am EST By Taegan Goddard

A new CNN poll found the television audience for President Trump’s State of the Union speech “had the largest partisan tilt measured in any CNN instant poll following a presidential address to Congress dating back to 2001 — viewers were roughly 17 points more likely than the general public to identify as Republicans, and were largely fans of the President.”

“In pre-speech surveys, 61% of speech-watchers said they approved of the job he was doing as President, compared with 40% in CNN’s latest representative survey of all American adults.”

Besides, Curse of Oak Island was on and it contains a lot more accurate factual information than any Trump speech.

... with something lie 67% approving the speech and 25% disapproving. That struck me as very odd, to be honest.

Know we know why. It was mostly the cult who was watching.

Both awesome sights.

Saw Speaker Pelosi when she over exaggerated her applause as Trumpski disingenuously advocated for "the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise and the common good. She was answering him, " In your face Donald, practice what you preach."

Listened for about 1/2 hour, then just checked in a few times. Really couldn't take listening to him longer than a minute or 2, or hearing the sycophant Republicans clapping like fools every time he said anything even halfway intelligible.

Final time I checked in was right as he was ending. Watched him exit the hall, he completely ignored McConnell, turned his back on him as he was walking toward the exit and didn't shake his hand. May have been unintentional, but McConnell look miffed.

Sorry if I've grossed you out with the mental imagery, bot Donnie constantly sounds like my first wife when her PMS was at its worst. And she had a particularly bad case of it, god bless her.

Yep, it was bad. If Nancy Pelosi can listen to his bullshit, I can too.

Trump has mastered the art of doublespeak. His presentation is almost flawless; without listening to the actual words, he’s almost mesmerizing to watch and hear. He must have stuck to his script last night, there were no nonsensical rants. But when you listened to what he actually said, it was either a lie (“I prevented a war with North Korea”), something any sane person would agree with (“I want to stop childhood cancers”) or a scare tactic (“We need to build a wall because an undocumented immigrant was driving and killed someone”).

I watched it as an observer. Yes, he was a complete lying asshole, as usual. But he was boo'd a couple times (Pelosi did a subtle motion to stop). For the most part, Dems sat there stone faced, only clapping for things like honoring veterans, and fighting against childhood cancer (why did he just throw that in--more bait for his minions?). The Congresswomen in white were quite a sight, and of course, he thought their applause for women was for him.

Other Dems/Independents showed outright disgust. Kamala Harris was shaking her head a lot, Bernie Sanders' face got redder by the minute. When he talked about the military, the generals were also completely stone-faced. They didn't clap till the damn thing was over. Pelosi didn't try to hide as she checked his script a number of times, assuming either checking if he was staying on it, or to see when it would be over. She appeared to control her face with effort, especially when he was talking about the wall and investigations.

With very few exceptions, most of us either read the speech transcript, relied on the few gluttons for punishment who did watch it, or decided (based on long experience with Individual #1) it would all be lies and bombast anyway and did something else.

I like to think that there is one America, and one group of American residents who, either intentionally or otherwise, would sell us out to Russia, as they see Democrats as more of a threat to their lives than Putin.
