Cindy McCain claimed she thwarted human trafficking at Sky Harbor, police say she didn't
azfamily.com News Staff Posted 5 hrs ago

PHOENIX, AZ (3TV/CBS 5)-- Cindy McCain was heard in a radio interview on KTAR Mac & Gaydos claiming she stopped a human trafficking incident at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, but Arizona’s Family has debunked that claim.

“I came in from a trip I’d been on and I spotted—it looked odd—it was a woman of a different ethnicity than the child, this little toddler she had, and something didn’t click with me,” McCain said in the radio interview. “I went over to the police and told them what I saw, and they went over and questioned her, and, by God, she was trafficking that kid.”

McCain went on to say that she discovered the woman was waiting for the man who bought the child to arrive from his flight.

Phoenix police said Wednesday that while officers did respond to the Jan. 30 call, at McCain’s request, they were able to determine “there was no evidence of criminal conduct or child endangerment.”

I don't look anything like my mom, including skin color, only my brother looks anything like her.

I had a landlord, once, who swore that my sister/roommate and I were a lesbian couple because we didn't look anything like each other. We thought that was kind of funny and didn't want any proof either, he didn't bother us much.

And then there was the time, this is funny

Once upon a time... I was watching my nieces, who looked very much alike and a lot like me as well, and we went to the grocery store together that day. They were 3 & 5 so they were in the cart. As we waited our turn at the check out, a lady in line was enamored with them, they were cute little girls, and blurted out,

"I wonder what it's like to be the mother of twins!"

Trying not to laugh I responded,

"I couldn't tell you, honestly. They're my nieces and they're not twins!"

Everyone around us kind of chuckled, she thought it was pretty funny too.

Other side of the coin I guess.

so if Cindy McCain saw me with my mother's relatives, she would have to call the cops while convincing herself she's not a racist.

There was a "what would you do" episode about this. They mostly call cops when it's a father with a daughter of different race or skin color.

They don't do it equally. I suspect that a black parent and a white child have more encounters than a white parent and a black child.

Should people then be reporting her when they see her and her child together because "something isn't right?" I bet she wouldn't enjoy that. One would think a person with an adopted child should know better than reporting someone with a child just because the child is of different ethnicity.

the fact that they adopted a daughter from Bangladesh doesn't mean much to me. Pretty common for racist to make exception for people close to them.

Cindy McCain apologises after police dispute human trafficking claim

7 February 2019

Cindy McCain, the widow of former US Senator John McCain, has apologised after police disputed her claim that she stopped a human trafficking case.

Mrs McCain told KTAR radio she thwarted a crime by alerting Phoenix airport police to a woman of a different ethnicity than the child she was with.

But Phoenix police told the station on Wednesday that they found no criminal wrongdoing after performing the check.

Critics on social media have accused her of racial profiling and harassment.

What exactly happened?

"I came in from a trip I'd been on and I spotted - it looked odd - it was a woman of a different ethnicity than the child, this little toddler she had, and something didn't click with me," said Mrs McCain, 64, who also co-chair's the Arizona governor's anti-trafficking taskforce.

Not because I don’t think it exist and this is the perfect example of unconscious white privilege.

She has a child that is a minority and good for and her husband for adopting the child.

But she was unable to assume others are like can be like her. They must be suspect.

While others on DU may disagree, and I respect their opinion, as much as the blatant in you face racist we are up against it is the unconscious, sociatial racism that will be the hardest to overcome.
