WATCH LIVE: Aurora shooting leaves multiple wounded, large police presence reported at Henry Pratt

Source: ABC7 Chicago

Updated 1 min ago

AURORA, IL (WLS) --
An active shooting situation has been reported at the Henry Pratt Company in southwest suburban Aurora in Kane County.

The Daily Herald reports that four City of Aurora Police Officers and multiple civilians have been injured.

At 3 p.m., the City of Aurora tweeted that the alleged shooter had been apprehended but the lockdown continued.

John Probst, a Henry Pratt employee who escaped the building, said he saw a man holding a pistol with a laser scope. He said he recognized the shooter as a coworker.

There would have been approximately 30 people in the building at the time of the shooting, Probst said.

Probst said he saw other coworkers injured and that the shooter was firing indiscriminately.

as a design engineer back in 1992. They were unwilling to wait less than one month for me to complete my Masters classes before beginning work for them.

Fortunately a month later a much better offer came along.

I now live in San Diego and we just had a shooting in the neighborhood of Hillcrest. Amazingly, no one killed or injured. Guy shot 17 rounds into a restaurant from an assault rifle.

5 victims dead after workplace shooting in Illinois - live updates

BY SARAH LYNCH BALDWIN

UPDATED ON: FEBRUARY 15, 2019 / 7:28 PM / CBS NEWS

A gunman opened fire inside an Illinois manufacturing company Friday, killing at least five civilians and wounding five police officers in the rampage, authorities said. Local police identified the gunman as 45-year-old Gary Martin, who died in a shootout with officers.

Police said they have not yet identified a motive but believe Martin worked at the Henry Pratt manufacturing company. The attack triggered a heavy police response in Aurora, a city of about 200,000 people roughly 40 miles from Chicago.

Fast Facts:

• Police said the shooter, 45-year-old Gary Martin, was killed in a shootout with authorities
• Five officers were struck by gunfire; a sixth officer was being treated Friday for a knee injury
• The shooting happened at a large industrial complex in Aurora, Illinois

I'm sure, will be . . . . more guns! Now if all those victims had been armed, this would not have happened. It only takes a good man with a gun . . . etc.

Got to ask though. How much work can you get done in a factory, with one hand on your gun, and one eye on your co-workers? You never know when that little switch in someone's head flips, and it becomes 'FK this, kill them all!'

The US is so close to the real national emergency, they can't see it.

But I believe in the Right to Bear Arms - I have a Kentucky long rifle, shot and powder ready for when the British invade. Just like the forefathers intended.
