Dozens at FIU protest Trump administration's Venezuela involvement

Source: WSVN - Florida

FEBRUARY 18, 2019

WEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - Dozens of protesters came together at Florida International University’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus to protest the Trump administration’s involvement in Venezuela just as the commander in chief was getting ready to deliver a speech on campus.

. . .

Protester Joey Morales said, “A school named Florida International University is supposed to represent international students, and yet they’re inviting someone who’s deemed the immigrant community as a threat to this country. I’m here to protest that.”

Demonstrators were seen holding signs such as “No U.S. Coup in Venezuela” and “Hands off Venezuela.”

Linda Guillotti, the president of FIU’s National Organization for Women, said, “There’s a huge threat when the United States wants to come in and put someone like Elliott Abrams in charge. History repeats itself. There’s nothing that is going to indicate that he has turned over into a new leaf and has just become an angel, and now just wants to help,”

1. These protesters should ask the Venezuelan people what they want

I know for a fact that the Venezuelan people do not agree with these protesters, and I have a feeling they are either paid by the Maduro regime, and/or are completely clueless of the situation in the South American country.

To make a statement like that you need to back it up with facts.

Why is trump wrong on Venezuela?

5. I understand that but for sake of discussion it is good to expand on a statement

Why make a statement if you are not going to back up that statement with reasoning, facts? That is the purpose of DU discussions, we all get to present our thoughts and back them up with some substance, otherwise, what is the purpose of discussion?

It reminds me of a guy who did not understand a technology I had just presented, he wanted to go a different route, so I asked "why?, and all he said was "because"...Would you be satisfied with that answer?

And I am not badgering the poster, I am asking to explain, in this case I do consider myself very knowledgeable about what is going on on Venezuela, to read a non backed up statement like that worries me, and thus I do want to read what he/she has to expose on the matter.
