Vatican admits to secret rules for children of priests

Source: CNN

The Vatican has revealed that it maintains secret guidelines for priests who father children despite their vows of celibacy.

"I can confirm that guidelines exist; it is a document for internal use," Vatican spokesman Alessandro Gisotti said in a statement to CNN, adding that the document was not intended for publication.

The existence of Vatican guidelines for dealing with priests who father children was first reported by The New York Times.

One man, Vincent Doyle, whose father was a Catholic priest, told the paper he was shown the document when he traveled to Rome in search of justice for children of ministers.

where some even finally got married to boot.

The Episcopal Church (and probably the Lutheran Church as well) have a number of "lapsed Catholics" in their ranks due to the similar liturgy.

I am Episcopal and know some of the history. The celibacy thing is rather recent in the history of the Catholic church.

my parents even stopped going in 2016, because of anti-immigrant racism where they lived in Trump country.

The rampant child abuse and cover-ups were too much for me.

I do not think the problem is with the majority of the catholics. I hope it is only the 1% whole are hiding within the church. I know the people who get the attention make the "normal's" look bad. I think an inside "witch hunt" might clean out the rotten apples. The 99% who do good should not be associated with those who are twisted.

My grandmother was excommunicated for divorcing her abusive, drunk husband. The hypocrisy is almost painful.
