Several current and former Trump administration appointees promoted sales of nuclear power plants to Saudi Arabia despite repeated objections from members of the National Security Council and other senior White House officials, according to a new report from congressional Democrats.
The officials who objected included White House lawyers and H.R. McMaster, then the chief of the National Security Council. They called for a halt in the nuclear sales discussions in 2017, citing potential conflicts of interest, national security risks and legal hurdles.
Yet the effort to promote nuclear sales persisted, led by former National Security Council chief Gen. Michael Flynn and more recently by Energy Secretary Rick Perry. The possible nuclear power sale was discussed in the Oval Office as recently as last week.
Details about these internal White House battles are contained in a 24-page report released Tuesday morning by Rep. Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.), chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee. The report is based on documents obtained by the committee and the account of unnamed whistleblowers inside the White House who said they were distressed at the contual effort to sell the power plants.

(802 posts)No wonder the sentencing judge asked prosecutors if Flynn could be tried for treason. No patriots in this group. Traitors all of them. Willing to sell out their country for Saudi money.

(23,003 posts)drumpf is part owner in a nuclear development company and has been pushing countries around the world to install commercial nuclear plants - through his company so he can profit off destabilizing the world as told to do by PUtin. So, first it was South Korea and now we hear they're doing the same in SA. Could this be part of the reason they are hiding that MBS is a murderer, they want him to agree to build the plants with their firm?

(1,201 posts)It's for nuclear weapons and Trump and Kushner know this. They should be arrested for treason and selling national security secrets to a foreign entity. If they don't believe these will be used on Israel one day they are blind, even if they go through Iran first. This Trump crime family must be eliminated in the interests of National security.
