Pro-Confederate groups to march in support of Mississippi monuments

Two pro-Confederate groups are reportedly preparing to march on Saturday in support of monuments on the University of Mississippi campus and in opposition to the school's decision to remove its former mascot, Colonel Reb.

Confederate 901 and the Hiwaymen are organizing the Mississippi Stands Rally at a Confederate monument located on the college's campus, The Clarion Ledger reported Tuesday.

There are 95 people who said on a Facebook page they are going and more than 350 people are interested.

The groups said they are protesting Ole Miss because the university "disregarded and disrespected the traditions of a once great southern university."

I lived in Mississippi for a very short time when I was young. Though I met a lot of really nice people, I have to say the ignorance and racism was overwhelming.

I was reading some comments on an old friend's Facebook page and they are all Fox watching Trump supporters. One said he'd just about had enough of Fox News and for a second I was hopeful, BUT his complaint was that some Fox personalities were actually critical of Trump and conservatives.

a great southern university? I think that the School's reputation has been enhanced even more so and I bet that none of them went to school there. I daresay if they did a poll at the school, the numbers would be to overwhelmingly remove the statues.

The only 'real' reason these bigots and racists are protesting is not just the removal of the statues themselves,
not the constant loss of members to aid in spreading their message of hate and bigotry, but to gasp a last dying breath while on state and/or national TV. What is ironic about this last grasp attempt is that they also will attract a huge crowd of counter protesters who will outnumber them 100 or 1000 to 1.

That's fine. It will show just how far the vast majority of Americans have come, versus a tiny sliver of America who refuses to see the 'light' and wants to continue spewing their message of hate and bigotry.

Few of them go below 35% even on his best day (least awful day). Many are tribal republicans who will vote republican even if Charles Manson ran with Timothy McVeigh on the same ticket.

I agree with you, big time. The only thing those idiots understand is total defeat, like the civil war, Brown vs Board of Education, 1965 Civil rights act, 1929 crash/New Deal reforms, etc. That 40% won't go back down until Trump's bullshit becomes politically volatile and they are forced to go back to bitching about political correctness.
