Steve King: 'I have nothing to apologize for,' plans to run for re-election

Source: Des Moines Register

A defiant Rep. Steve King confirmed Thursday that he will run for a 10th term as an Iowa congressman, despite controversies over his history of caustic remarks, including about race and immigration.

The Kiron Republican has been criticized by national and state leaders of his own party, has been stripped of committee assignments in Congress and has drawn three primary challengers for the 2020 race.

In a Thursday taping of Iowa Public Television’s “Iowa Press” program, host David Yepsen asked him: “Are you sorry for anything that you’ve said?”

The congressman replied: “I have nothing to apologize for, Dave.”

He said many of the people there approve of King's racism.

No wonder he keeps getting re-elected.

Let him continue to "represent" them without any influence on any committee. He is effectively sitting in the corner wearing a dunce cap. And he was put there by the Republican party.

Political clout, a guy neutered by his own party for his vile racist views thinks he’s got the inside track for re-election? Good luck with that asshole.

I just looked at the results for 2016 and 2018, and JD Scholten almost won in 2018:

2016 was typical runaway results for King:

but in 2018 opponent JD Scholten (who ran a vigorous campaign, as I remember and was a good choice for this district) was only about 3% behind King:
