The Obama administration initially determined Hoda Muthana was not a citizen and notified her family that it was revoking her passport in January 2016.

WASHINGTON — The father of an Alabama woman who joined the Islamic State in Syria filed suit against the Trump administration Thursday in an effort to allow her return to the United States.

Ahmed Ali Muthana argues in the suit filed in federal court in Washington that his 24-year-old daughter, Hoda Muthana, is an American citizen by birth and should be allowed to come back to the U.S. with her toddler son.

Hoda Muthana is now in a Syrian refugee camp with the 18-month-old boy after fleeing the remnants of the Islamic State.

Her lawyers said in a statement that she expects to be charged with providing material support to terrorism if she is allowed to return to the U.S.

The other is not. What if this was 1945, she moved to Germany, and she was sending letters to the editor saying to kill Truman? Or that Jews must be killed, wiped from the Earth? I’d want her to have to live in post-war Germany. Or spend 20+ years in a US prison for treason.
“Aid and comfort to the enemy” is a thing. One shouldn’t be able to just say “whoops, my bad” and come back like nothing happened. That way, others would look long and hard at the decision to betray the US. It has to be an irrevocable.
Does she still subscribe to the views of ISIS? Once back, would she carry out acts of mayhem and destruction to further those views? As we’ve seen from terrorist attacks in the recent past, a truck can be an easy to obtain, devestating weapon. Why give her the chance. Let her spend the rest of her life in Syria. Hopefully, it’ll be short.

admin actually found her not to be a citizen there must be a snag, if that is true. She could renounce all she wants but officially she has to file for it through a legal process that can cost up to $2500.00.

through a bunch of bureaucratic hoops. Does not appear she ever did that. The more interesting question is whether she's a citizen at all. She was born when her father was a foreign diplomat. By law those children born in the US are exceptions to the general rule of citizenship by birth. That's what the suit is about.

and take up arms against the Great Satan...

Now she's actually suing to come back? I guess her childcare options and public assistance in Syria must really be shit?

Has anyone informed her that her new 'home' in the states will likely be a prison cell?
