Mueller files redacted Paul Manafort sentencing memo
Source: CBS News
Special counsel Robert Mueller has filed a redacted memo on sentencing recommendations for former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.
Friday had been the deadline for the filing, although that process appears to have been slowed by the redaction process. The sentencing memo comes as the 69-year-old Manafort, who led Donald Trump's 2016 campaign for several months, is already facing the possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison in a separate case.

MSNBC said it is over 800 pages, so maybe that includes annexes etc

That's a LOT of redactions. Must be ongoing stuff or, too juicy for us mere mortals.

And why would a memo on sentencing recommendations be redacted? I'm having a lot of trouble understanding that.

Paul Manafort a hardened and bold criminal, Mueller prosecutors tell judge
By Rachel Weiner February 23 at 3:18 PM
Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort is a hardened criminal who repeatedly and brazenly violated the law, prosecutors told a Washington federal judge.
But in the filing submitted Friday and made partially public Saturday they recommended no specific punishment for those crimes, saying that is the practice of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, whose office brought the case.
Prosecutors noted that federal guidelines call for a sentence of 17 to 22 years, although under Manaforts guilty plea in his D.C. case, the maximum he faces behind bars is 10. The special counsel team said it may ask for Judge Amy Berman Jackson to impose a sentence that runs after any prison time Manafort is given for related crimes in Virginia federal court.
Manafort chose repeatedly and knowingly to violate the law, prosecutors said, from garden-variety crimes such as tax fraud, money laundering, obstruction of justice, and bank fraud to more esoteric laws involving foreign lobbying.
