WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Trump administration on Monday threatened to put additional financial restrictions on Cubas military and intelligence services amid the political turmoil in Venezuela.
Cubas role in usurping democracy and fomenting repression in Venezuela is clear. Thats why the U.S. will continue to tighten financial restrictions on Cubas military and intel services. The regions democracies should condemn the Cuba regime, White House national security adviser John Bolton said in a Twitter post.

U.S. to allow lawsuits against some foreign firms doing business in Cuba: sources

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Trump administration is preparing to allow lawsuits in U.S. courts for the first time against some foreign companies doing business in Communist-ruled Cuba using properties confiscated from Cuban-Americans and other U.S. citizens, according to people familiar with the matter.
The move, which could be announced as early as Monday, could threaten Cubas efforts to attract more foreign investment and is also aimed at punishing Havana over its support for Venezuelas socialist president, Nicolas Maduro, who is facing a political and economic crisis, the sources said.
President Donald Trumps administration is expected to act on a threat issued in January to allow a controversial law that has been suspended since its creation in 1996 to take effect later this month, permitting U.S. citizens to sue foreign companies over property seized in the 1960s by the Cuban government.
The State Department plans to allow Title III of the Helms-Burton Act to go into effect with a partial waiver to protect U.S. businesses and those of certain American allies, according to the sources, who were briefed on the matter. However, it could leave Russian and Chinese companies invested in Cuba at risk of U.S. litigation, they said.

Venezuela was the only thing keeping Cuba alive anyway. As long as Putin stays out, Cuba will fall too. IF, Putin stays out...

(234 posts)Not to mention that Cuba has 58 years of survival skills under their belts. Plus, Cubans in Cuba love their way (socialist Cubania).

(1,588 posts)Cuba will get no more oil. Cuba will get no more anything. They will be starved to death unless Russia helps them. Having Cuba fail would be a great notch in Trump's belt.

(234 posts)Cuba and Russia recently signed cooperation and trade agreements along with debt forgiveness. Possibly a return of the Russian naval station.
