On the heels of Michael Cohens congressional testimony alleging that the Trump Organization mischaracterized asset values in its representations to insurance companies, the Trump Organizations insurance broker received an expansive subpoena Monday from New York state insurance regulators, the New York Times reported.
The regulator, the Department of Financial Services, conducts civil investigations and does not have the authority to conduct criminal investigations, according to the Times. However it can make referrals to local and state prosecutors.
The subpoena did not suggest that the broker Aon or its employees committed any wrongdoing, according to the New York Times report. However, it requested scores of information about the brokers business since 2009 with the Trump Org and Donald Trump himself, the report said. The requested information includes communications, contracts, agreements, and information on how Aon employees were compensated for their work with the Trump Org, according to the New York Times.
