Former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg bows out of 2020 Democratic presidential contest

Source: Washington Post

NEW YORK — Former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Tuesday that he would not run for president, concluding his path to the Democratic nomination was narrow and he could accomplish more as a private citizen.

The decision removes from the race one of the world’s richest men, a self-described centrist who had the potential to dominate early primary spending and complicate the campaigns of other moderate candidates.

“I believe I would defeat Donald Trump in a general election,” Bloomberg, 77, said in a statement posted online Tuesday afternoon. “But I am clear-eyed about the difficulty of winning the Democratic nomination in such a crowded field.”

In place of a candidacy, Bloomberg has committed to funding a new independent political operation with the goal of preventing the reelection of President Trump, with intensive voter targeting and outreach in swing states over the next 18 months.

So glad to hear he'll throw his support behind a candidate, whomever wins the nomination.

that he seems to be working with some pretty smart people to develop technology to help counteract Cambridge Analytica and also GOTV on the Democratic side.

Ok

So the United States has a minimum age for President (35 years) but when the hell are we going to say, you're too old to be President? I mean, I'm pushing 60, there's stuff I wouldn't ever consider attempting now that I used to do at random at 30.

Take for example 45, he won't go through a legitimate Medical Physical, or Mental Evaluation, and look what a raving idiot speech he gave at CPAC 2019. As well, I'm with these States enacting legislation requiring a Presidential Nominee release their tax returns in order to be listed on their Ballots.

This idiot-in-chief has shown Americans, how corrupt Politics has truly become. Not that it wasn't corrupt before, it's like nothing this guy does, or says is wrong. If any previous President, Republican or Democrat had attempted even 1/8th of the crap the orange turd does on a daily basis, EVERYONE would be pushing for Impeachment.

the age thing doesn't bother me, as long as a candidate is mental & physically fit for the job (maybe not past 80).
