BERLIN (AP) — They're angry at their elders, and they're not taking it sitting down.

Students worldwide are planning to skip class Friday and take to the streets to protest their governments' failure to take sufficient action against global warming.

The coordinated 'school strike' was inspired by 16-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who began holding solitary demonstrations outside the Swedish parliament last year.

Since then, the weekly protests have snowballed from a handful of cities to hundreds, driven by social media-savvy students and dramatic headlines about the impact of climate change.

during the late '60s and early '70s, I remember that previous student-lead effort that we little ones were exposed to that included this -

So here we are 50 years later still getting the reminders about the world around us, and from the students!

...and fail we have...

...old people, like myself, are on our way out...if our children and grandchildren want a viable planet to live on for themselves and their children and grandchildren, they'd better do something about global warming...

...it's obvious we're not going to do anything serious about global warming...we've failed future generations on so many levels...

...ignore the old and disbelieving for they will never change...may God give you the strength and the help you need to save the planet...

...'school strike' on like your life depended upon it...

...it does...
