Australian lawmaker blames Muslims after white supremacist kills 49 at two New Zealand mosques

Source: The Hill

A right-wing Australian senator on Friday said the “real cause of bloodshed” following a shooting at two mosques that killed 49 people was Muslims.

“I am utterly opposed to any form of violence within our community, and I totally condemn the actions of the gunman,” Queensland Sen. Fraser Anning wrote in a statement.

“However, whilst this kind of violent vigilantism can never be justified, what it highlights is the growing fear within our community, both in Australia and New Zealand, of the increasing Muslim presence.”

“The real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place.”

So, sure, "fear ... of the increasing Muslim presence" was totally the problem.

And people like this Aussie Senator are undoubtedly the cause of the fear that led to the hate that caused this murder.

That's all he gets credit for.

Fear is definitely part of the problem. The fact that the fear is entirely irrational is even MORE a part of the problem.

Literally only received 19 votes in 2016 and has been kicked out of two incredibly nasty, horrible, racist political parties in the time since.
Calling him a lawmaker is a bit of a stretch and frankly airing anything he has to say ever is not recommended.

So I wouldn't hold my breath, they have many flavours of crazy up there.
One falls and another steps up.

But to be fair to the lunatic fringe this guy has been deemed too offensive for them and I don't see him maintaining his seat which was only won because the guy before had to step down.

He was born in Australia so he is just as much an immigrant as the people he killed. The major difference, of course, is the color of his skin.

Lock him up and forget his name.
