VIDEO: Black woman brutally beat by armed white man in parking lot dispute — as bystanders do nothing

Ablack Texas woman whose brutal beating by a white bartender was captured on video described to a local news station what it felt like to be so viciously attacked.

In an interview with Dallas’ WFAA, 24-year-old L’Daijohnique Lee said bartender Austin Shuffield beat her up and threatened her at gunpoint in the Deep Ellum suburb after she accidentally blocked a parking lot exit.

“I knew I was on a one-way street but I was stopping literally at the corner to let my friend out,” Lee said.

Shuffield, age 30, approached Lee’s vehicle to get a photo of her license plate after she entered the parking lot — and, feeling intimidated, the woman told him to get back or else she’d mace him, the man’s arrest warrant stated.

Once in college in a bar I was eating at late after work. A guy threw a beer bottle at his (I think) girlfriend. He missed her. I grabbed him from behind for about 10 seconds to distract him from hitting her until the big bouncers came over. The second time I had banging at my apartment door in the middle of the night and a girl was begging to help her as her drunk boyfriend was chasing her down. I let her and called the police.

But as a father of 2, a husband, a son...I'm very less likely to get involved if someone is waving a gun around. This day in age people just fucking shoot and ask questions later.

Even IF he had no gun. There is a certain state of shock in the air when this kind of thing, or any kind of thing involving sudden unexpected public violence. And if no one else is moving, it takes a hell of a lot of gumption to be the first to run forward. Not even talking about courage. It is that you are going against the default paralysis that everyone else is under. And it is being able to quickly change your whole mindset to deal with a situation that no one there, including the victim of course, thought would be happening at that moment in their day.

Now if it were a slow build up, like on a bus or something, someone harrassing another, with the public being right there close, and it was building up to a physical confrontation, I think we see more frequent pubic intervention. But there is still a moment where even then, because it is not the norm, we just want to go about our day listening to music on our phone, texting to friends etc..and such an incident is like a movie being played it is so unreal and happens so fast. Our brains just don't process and adjust fast enough, its not that we are "cowards" or that we don't want to help.

Guys like this will never be rehabilitated, they just make sure not to get caught next time. This moron needs to spend the rest of his life stamping out license plates!

He'll do jail time. He was drunk.

But this environment we live in today, where people just stand there and don't do anything? Did anyone call the police? Maybe so, but the story didn't say. Although, as she says, the video helped her. Without it, it would have been his word against hers.

In that video, you can see how many times he hit her, and how hard. I can't believe she didn't lose some teeth or get a broken jaw. He slammed her hard, hitting her straight from the right side, then a hard undercut.

That's a dangerous man. He better do some serious jail time. And have to attend anger management therapy.

So glad, like the victim, someone was there who recorded that filthy attack on her.

He's a real opportunist, unloading like that on someone not nearly as powerful as he is. Very dirty fighter.

Community activists say they want Austin Shuffield charged with aggravated assault and a hate crime.

The activists said the victim told them that the suspect used racial slurs as he punched her.

"I'm glad I'm still alive because I could have died last night," she told WFAA.

In one 2010 post that WFAA obtained from an official source and which appeared to be made on Shuffield's personal Facebook page, the "N" word is used.

Activists are angry about the misdemeanor charges and low bond, which allowed Shuffield to get out of jail.
