Stephen Moore: legal file on Trump Fed pick sealed after contempt revelations

Source: The Guardian

Legal filings detailing how Stephen Moore, Donald Trump’s pick for a Federal Reserve board seat, was found in contempt of court have been hidden from the public following a report by the Guardian.

The entire file on Moore’s divorce was sealed by a court order on Monday in response to a request from Moore’s ex-wife, according to a clerk at Fairfax county circuit court in Virginia. CNBC first reported the file had been sealed.
Trump Fed pick was held in contempt for failing to pay ex-wife over $300,000

The Guardian disclosed on Saturday that Moore was found in contempt of court in November 2012 for failing to pay his ex-wife more than $300,000 in alimony, child support and debts from their 2011 divorce settlement.

Documents from the file were copied by a Guardian reporter last week at the courthouse before the request to seal was made. The Guardian made the documents public on Monday.

Virginia must not be a no-fault divorce state, because the ground was adultery, which he did blatantly and obnoxiously after shopping on-line for a mistress.

Only the best people, right?

All states are no-fault divorce states. Virginia is one of the few that still allows fault-based divorces. Suing for adultery (if you can prove it, and it appears she could in this case) is advantageous if you want to take the bastard to the cleaners, because it lets them throw out all the "equitable division of property" stuff and allows the aggrieved party to take pretty much whatever she wants.

Our friends in the GOP would really like to get rid of no-fault divorce; I figure if that happens you'll see a LOT of people doing "amicable adultery" divorces, as in "hi single friend, can you do me a favor? We've got to have a fault in our marriage before we can get divorced, so could you be so kind as to come to the house tomorrow night and fuck my husband for me? No, really...if you could do this for us, we'd be eternally grateful. Oh, you can? See ya at nine, then. The kids will be at my mom's house."

12. Wouldn't that be "the documents Moore's ex-wife doesn't want us to see"?

We've managed to erase her, so that she doesn't really count in the story.

Maybe she wanted her privacy more than she wanted his? But no, she's the woman and inherently, I guess, of less importance.

Not a good slight.

14. My odds are now at 3:1 the ex was somehow 'incentivized' to file for sealing

He was peddling a book on how to get rich. Step one: Write a book on how to get rich to sell morons. Sounds like a Trump University professor.
