Trump and Putin discussed outcome of Mueller probe as part of hourlong phone conversation

Source: Washington Post

President Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone for more than an hour Friday about topics including the outcome of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation into Russia’s 2016 election interference, the White House said. The two touched “very, very briefly” on Mueller’s findings, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters.

“It was discussed, essentially in the context that it’s over, and there was no collusion, which I’m pretty sure both leaders were very well aware of long before this call took place,” Sanders told reporters at the White House.

Sanders said most of the conversation was devoted to other topics, including nuclear agreements between the two nations, Trump’s efforts to denuclearize North Korea, trade and the unrest in Venezuela. Sanders characterized the phone call as “overall a very positive conversation.”

Mueller’s report concluded that the Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election “in sweeping and systematic fashion.” The interference included both a social media campaign that favored Trump and disparaged Democrat Hillary Clinton, and the hacking of computers maintained by allies of Clinton and the subsequent releases of stolen documents.

President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin “very, very briefly” touched on the special counsel’s findings during a call Friday morning, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said.

“It was discussed, essentially in the context that it’s over and there was no collusion, which I’m pretty sure both leaders were very well aware of long before this call took place,” Sanders told reporters at the White House.

This is a developing story. It will be updated.

It's up to Congress now. Just add it to the pile of evidence that they have been trying to claw out of DOJ's hands.

dis will somehow prod Mr. Mueller a little further towards testifying publicly about his report...I don’t think it’s his nature to WANT to do that, but we kinda NEED him to, ASAP!!

but I expect all parties are very keenly aware that how they proceed from this point on may have to be unprecedented because the level of extreme partisanship within what is left of the GOP and lack of any honor whatsoever among those who have succumbed to this mess, will require thinking of steps to deal with the short term AND those needed for the long game.

They need to bring in some of the best legal minds - and not just the ones who have been dutifully serving as pundits (including the Watergate-experienced ones).

Putin is a murderer. He is the head of a corrupt government that sows discord here and throughout Europe, wants to install puppets all over the globe, and is doing so.
They are an enemy of their own people.
This call is more collusion.

How the heck this happened, I don't know. That he got off. Shouldn't have happened. Should NOT have happened. Look at what Nixon did, at what Bill Clinton did, compared to Trump and his family.

They haven't even had the equivalent of the "Watergate Hearings" yet (which happened before they even considered an impeachment inquiry and hearings for Nixon).

While he doesn't exonerate Trump, he examined the evidence and said there's not enough evidence for an indictment so that htere's a reasonable expectation of a guilty finding.

I don't see Congress having the time to pursue that line, to find more evidence, while also pursuing obstruction evidence.

But we'll see.
