Federal judge strikes down Kentucky abortion law
Source: AP
FRANKFORT, Ky. A federal judge on Friday struck down a Kentucky abortion law that would halt a common second-trimester procedure to end pregnancies. The states anti-abortion governor immediately vowed to appeal.
U.S. District Judge Joseph H. McKinley Jr. ruled that the 2018 law would create a substantial obstacle to a womans right to an abortion, violating constitutionally protected privacy rights.
Kentuckys only abortion clinic challenged the law right after it was signed by Republican Gov. Matt Bevin. A consent order had suspended its enforcement pending the outcome of last years trial in which Bevins legal team and ACLU attorneys argued the case.
The law takes aim at an abortion procedure known as dilation and evacuation. The procedure was used in 537 of 3,312 abortions in Kentucky in 2016, according to state statistics.

(6,226 posts)of the repub plan to get these disgusting laws before the Supreme Court. They want Roe v Wade overturned which has been settled law since 1973. The current Supreme Court will be known in history as the Roberts Court. So will Justice Roberts want to be known for overturning Roe v Wade? We will see. I can't help but wonder if the anti abortion folks know that abortion rights (or not) will be turned over the the states like before abortion rights went national?

(2,944 posts)of attorney's fees and punitive costs against these prosecutors when their wicked laws are overturned? Making the citizens realize that their infringement on protected privacy rights comes with a high price that the citizens have to pay will be one way to stop this assault.

(50,533 posts)If you truly believe God is working through you to end the abortion holocaust (forget that the only time the Bible ever addressed abortion was in the Book of Numbers, and that was a set of step-by-step instructions on performing one) then you also think the courts will see it your way when one of these cases comes to court.
That the courts have never ruled in favor of the anti abortion people is beside the point.
