Mike Pompeo is to meet Vladimir Putin in Russia at a time of heightened fears of a clash between the US and Iran, a Moscow ally.

The US secretary of state’s visit on Tuesday will be the first meeting between senior officials from the two countries since the release of Robert Mueller’s redacted report on his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and alleged collusion with the Trump campaign.

Pompeo meeting with Putin to receive orders regarding the USA-Iran clash. He may also receive orders regarding actions, or no actions to be taken in Venezuela.

Pompeo will convey the orders to the buffoon when he returns. No other USA personnel will be allowed in these meetings.

OK, I made all that up, but there is no reason to doubt I am predicting the agenda in Moscow. My predictions are based in recent history.

Pompeo tells Russia: Don't meddle in next U.S. presidential election

SOCHI/MOSCOW (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Russia on Tuesday that Washington would brook no interference in the 2020 U.S. presidential election and wanted Moscow to take action to show there would be no repeat of its suspected 2016 meddling.

President Vladimir Putin, who met Pompeo in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi, pushed back, telling him that Russia never interfered in U.S. elections and that a report by U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller, which he praised as being “objective overall”, did not establish there was collusion with President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign.

Now that the Mueller report was out of the way, something which had long cast a pall over U.S.-Russia relations, Putin said he hoped ties would start improving.

“I’ve formed the impression that your president wants to repair Russia-U.S. ties and contacts and wants to solve issues which are of common interest for us,” Putin told Pompeo.

And the only conversation regarding Iran was with Lavrov.

“Lavrov told reporters the two countries continued to disagree about Iran’s nuclear program and the international community’s approach to Tehran, while Pompeo said he had raised U.S. concerns about escalating fighting in Syria’s Idlib.”

Makes me wonder if we got a full readout of the meeting with Putin. I’m holding out hope that Putin dampened their ambitions for war.

So silly to think that way. Putin might welcome us getting into a quagmire there.

Two things are making me really nervous right now: Iran and Trumps judicial appointments. Actually a third thing is the control of the Senate in 2020. And of course Roe vs Wade. It’s all making me crazy. I don’t know why I even said only two things are making me nervous.
