Judge rules Pepe the Frog copyright lawsuit against InfoWars will go to trial

Source: The Hill

A federal judge in California on Thursday ruled that a copyright infringement lawsuit filed against InfoWars by the creator of the "Pepe the Frog" character will go to trial.

Matt Furie, the creator of the popular frog, which has largely been coopted online by conservatives, sued InfoWars for copyright infringement over a poster it sold depicting Pepe the Frog with right-wing figures including President Trump, activist Milo Yiannopoulos and conspiracy theorist and InfoWars founder Alex Jones.

District Judge Michael Fitzgerald, who is overseeing the case in federal court in California, ruled in favor of Furie on several counts. But he said the issue of comments made by Furie on his ownership of Pepe the Frog is disputed enough to advance it to trial.

InfoWars had alleged that Furie’s copyright of the character was invalid because it may have been based off another frog from an Argentinian cartoon called “El Sapo Pepe.” Furie said he had never heard of the Argentine cartoon before, and the judge ruled against InfoWars’ claim that Furie having access to the internet was enough to suggest that he could have seen the other character.

"Let's Make America Great Again" was President Reagan's slogan. How did Trump get a trademark on MAGA when the term was already out there in the market as an election slogan for Reagan?

Begging people to buy their brand...info wars cupcakes...body lotion..etc..Sounded like they are strapped for cash..The punk said that info wars needed to be heard...have a free voice etc...and without support it might not happen. At least thats what I got out of his tantrum...

Jones is said to be the owner of the show...I doubt he provides all the $$$ to run it..He has outside backing but i can't figure out who...Maybe the kock bros?...

Alex Jones had to scrub all of his wack theories on infowars and prison planet BEFORE he made the Drudge Report list. They made him take down all of his UFO and 911 stories to make him look legit. Hell, even Tucker Carlson was a guest several times after he was fired by NBC if I recall.

I think there will always be a segment of the population that runs in that corner before they realize they have been duped. But I'm with you, who really supports this guy?

Another reason why Trump might not want his tax returns made public - DJT may be channeling money to Alex Jones (a very important figure in Trump's attempts to take over the world) and illegally deducting it from his taxes.
