Pete Buttigieg's Fox News Town Hall Beats Trump Interview in Key Ratings Demo
Source: Mediaite
If he wins the Democratic primary, South Bend, IN Mayor Pete Buttigieg will earn the right to square off against President Donald Trump next November. And while it remains to be seen how Buttigieg will do at the ballot box, he certainly appears to be a worthy challenger in the TV ratings department.
According to Nielsen data, Sunday nights Fox News town hall with Mayor Pete hosted by Chris Wallace drew 1,110,000 overall viewers in the 7:00-8:00 p.m. timeslot, and 172,000 in the advertiser-coveted adults 25-54 demographic. The numbers trounced rival programming from MSNBC and CNN, beating the two networks combined in the total viewers category.
On Sunday May 12, Trump sat for a one-on-one with Steve Hilton during the 9 p.m. ET hour on Fox News. And interestingly, Mayor Pete out-rated Trump in the key demo, as the president only garnered 160,000 viewers. Trump did prevail in the overall category, with 1,319,000 tuning in for the interview with Hilton.

(6,581 posts)You know, I was a bit turned off about Dems going on Fox.
Was Fox doing it for the ratings?
Would there be an audience?
Would the regular Fox viewers tune in?
Well apparently there WAS an audience.
I did not watch it, but now I wish I had.
The excerpts on the news looked like Mayor Pete had a LOT of support.
Maybe Fox is finally realizing that Shitler is a LOSER?

(14,173 posts)For some of the top candidates to NOW boycott Fox News town halls? Where was this boycott when they should have years ago?
Now is the exact worst time to take some dramatic ethical stand to cut your nose off (cut off access to a wider audience that never hears your story) to spite your face.
Even if only to stand there and rip Fox News a new asshole, and promptly get kicked off the set on live TV. Which would only bolster your status, and make Fox News look like the intolerant POS they are. There is no lose. Fox making a few more dollars from hosting it to shovel on their vast earning empire, is hardly an excuse.
Democrats are the best people, but they are the worst at political strategy.
