TAOS, N.M. (Reuters) - A U.S. group building what it claims is the first private wall on the Mexican border wall on Wednesday said it had stopped construction after a New Mexico town ruled the project lacked necessary permits.
Sunland Park, New Mexico, on Tuesday ordered We Build the Wall to stop erecting the steel barrier on private land in an area that the group calls ground zero for illegal drugs, migrants and human sex slaves coming across. Sunland Park is located in the southeast corner of New Mexico, on the Mexican border and about 9 miles northwest of El Paso, Texas.
The group on its website, in describing its mission, says: If the Democrats wont provide the funding for what the American people voted for in 2016 then we the people will.
The groups list of members of its advisory board and various committees and operations includes Erik Prince, the former Navy SEAL who founded the controversial private security firm Blackwater; former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach; and former Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo, among others. It has raised over $23 million on its gofundmepage and vowed to resume construction.

(7,300 posts)We did not vote for the wall, we voted for Hillary Clinton by a few million. The Electoral College, the supposed safe guard the founders created to prevent the hoi poi from electing a narcissistic lunatic, elected the lunatic and his wall. Let the MAGAts keep sending their money to Prince and his Keystone Cohorts because very little will be left to build their wall after those shysters get their cut. Idiots.
As for the stupidity required to blissfully build shit on someone's private property, we all know they'll soon do something more profoundly stupid.

Raise $23 million from those dopes. Build a $2 million wall. Divide the $21 million left over and pocket millions of dollars donated by idiots.
Wish I had thought of that. Can't think of a better group to swindle.

(1,242 posts)Starting it on private land? Collect $23 million and not be able to use it? I thought they said they were the party of fiscal responsibility. It is going to be interesting to watch as they look to repurpose that money and lawsuits start - and then start up again as they actually start spending the money on other stupid crap. Nothing more wasteful than a bunch of republicans with money and nothing legal to spend it on.
