A photo of an armed Mexican soldier halting a crying migrant mother and her child went viral on social media this week as Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador tightens enforcement.
The Reuters image taken on Monday depicts a Mexican National Guard soldier carrying a firearm pointed to the ground in a dry riverbed between the Mexican city of Juárez and El Paso, Texas.
Guatemalan migrant Lety Pérez crouches in front of the soldier, crying and holding on to her young son, Anthony.
A video of the encounter was published Wednesday by Mexico's El Universal newspaper.

(6,699 posts)I know it's how many Russians and other Eastern Europeans have come over. I suspect the same has been true with Chinese, African citizens, etc. Churches sponsor families. I'm guessing there would be hundreds of thousands of American citizens willing to sponsor a family or an individual. Sweet Jesus...where is our soul as a nation!

That father/son duo will NOT be welcoming of these right wing white super groups. That rapture thingy, gonna disappoint a whole lot of whities. Come on God, just project an image of your middle eastern son in the sky for all to see. Do that, I will gladly join your club. Pretty easy task for ya, less than 7 days to accomplish. Do it for all the brown Christian Refugees that STiLL believe in you after all the hell they deal with. (I'm white)

She then crossed anyway, and was quickly detained by US agents.
I wonder if she's been seperated from her child yet?
